Border boom
According to the government report 'Hong Kong 2030: Planning Vision and Strategy', further development opportunities will be found close to the border with Shenzhen. By 2030, new development areas in the northern New Territories could provide a better living environment with greater diversity in density and design. The report assumes Kwu Tung North, Fanling North and Hung Shui Kiu could house 353,000 people.
Nature abounds
Fanling offers some of the finest recreational and social facilities in Hong Kong. The members-only Hong Kong Golf Club, with three 18-hole courses, is the largest in the city. The Jockey Club Beas River Country Club provides horse riding and other sporting and social facilities.
