A Rose Reborn – Creation of a Better World
“A Rose Reborn” is an international collaboration project with award-winning Korean director Park Chan-Wook and famous actors Daniel Wu and Jack Huston. It showcases the Italian maison’s new style and fashion forwardness catering to the new leadership generation. The film as a digital tool is a contemporary and comprehensive story-media, which can easily reach different walks of life regardless of geographical barrier, as well as effectively conveying valuable messages and engaging the audience’s emotions.
The roles of Mr Lu and Stephen (acted by Wu and Huston respectively) represent two different cultures working together to launch a project for the sake of the world. They respect the qualities of each other’s culture which is powerful and significant to the future. The idea parallels with the brand’s mission – “to look to the future and turn our tradition to good account”. Indeed, various schemes including Oasi Zegna, Zegna Foundation and Ermenegildo Zegna Founder’s Scholarship have been set up by Zegna to protect nature, society and culture to improve the surroundings for their product quality to flourish.
The film connotes a journey of rebirth from death to life. Stephen has been inspired by Lu’s riddles and guiding him to various places. He gradually learns about the world and ultimately changing himself, it is also a renaissance.
A lot of travelling scenes are found in the story. “Global travellers” are indeed a key feature of the new leadership generation which is characterised by their success and confidence. They are style-conscious and digitally connected with the international community. The two classy characters are dressed in complete Zegna looks introducing the “broken suit” concept - the three staple pieces of a suit created from different fabrics in terms of weaves, textures and patterns.
The 3 episodes plus the finale of “A Rose Reborn” are set in various locations including London, Wyoming, Shanghai and Milan, with each place carrying a distinct meaning of its own.
