Swire Properties
Swire Group, whose activities span property, aviation, beverages, marine services, and trading and industrial, is a Hong Kong listed conglomerate. It is the parent of Hong Kong carrier, Cathay Pacific Airways, and Dragonair, and Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Co (Haeco) is a subsidiary. Swire Pacific and Swire Properties are the main listed arms of the group, which also owns Swire Hotels.

Admiralty leads Swire's office rent growth
Swire Properties says rents at its office portfolio registered strong growth, with Pacific Place in Admiralty up 32 per cent last year on the previous lease. In its fourth-quarter operating statement, it said 215,720 square feet was put out for renewal at Pacific Place last year, with the latest monthly rent at HK$95 to HK$110 per square foot. Gauge of US business investment down
A gauge of US business investment plans dropped in December, a sign companies were losing confidence in the economy's strength, government data showed. The data also gave some positive signals, with a big jump in defence industry orders. Reuters
Funds under MPF return 2.6pc in January
The 453 investment funds under the Mandatory Provident Fund returned an average of 2.61 per cent last month, according to data provider Lipper.
