Kindergarten child abuse photos have netizens seeing red
Children being lifted by their ears, mouths taped shut or thrown upside-down into rubbish bins, forced to stand naked or prop themselves up in stress positions.
Photos of these and other forms of abuse are being 'tweeted' with rage after a young teacher in Zhejiang province sent one such photo over WeChat to one her students' parents yesterday afternoon.
It appears her Tencent photo album was then hacked, and media all the way up to People's Daily and CCTV have zeroed in on the teacher involved, Yan Yanhong, an employee of the Blue Peacock Kindergarten in the city of Wenling.
Yan was quickly identified after the human flesh search engines mistakenly traced the photos to two other nursery schools in the area and police got involved. A spokesperson for the Wenling Education Bureau told media yesterday that Yan has been let go and all efforts are being made to assist police in their investigation.
Many netizens aren't satisfied knowing that Yan has only been fired from her job; Wenling resident Chen Yuhua writes on Sina Weibo:
These [photos] are just what we've seen, I'm sure there's even more that we won't see, photos that she didn't take, or did take but just didn't put online. Honestly, I could rip her to pieces. Is this an isolated incident at one kindergarten, or something other kindergartens should reflect on? I'm a mess right now, this has been really hard for me, I don't what else to do.
