New York State's Department of Corrections, refused parole for the man who shot dead former Beatle John Lennon on December 8, 1980. Chapman, 57, has served 32 years of a 20-year-to-life prison term for shooting Lennon outside the musician's New York City apartment building, after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

The restaurant owner was jailed three years for cheating a government fund set up to protect workers who lose their jobs. The case involved a restaurant in Sham Shui Po that Tsang closed in 2003, with its 66 workers receiving benefits from the fund even though they had been rehired at a new restaurant opened by Tsang - using assets he claimed had been forfeited to creditors.

Queen Elizabeth's grandson headed home from Las Vegas to explain pictures of himself in the buff, cavorting with a naked woman. A friend who was with the 27-year-old said the picture was sold to a celebrity gossip website by a "despicable" woman who had betrayed the prince's hospitality.
