The Democratic Party chairman stood down after his party's disappointing performance in Sunday's Legislative Council election. Ho, who at least managed to win a seat in the legislature, wasn't the only big name to suffer disappointment. Liberal Party chairwoman Miriam Lau Kin-yee also quit after failing to win a seat while Legco veterans Audrey Eu Yuet-mee of the Civic Party and the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong's Lau Kong-wah also lost.

The future of the newest Olympic discipline seems uncertain in Hong Kong as infighting causes waves in the kiteboarding world. The International Kiteboarding Association banned five local surfers from taking part in any event worldwide and several rival groups are now fighting to be recognised as the official body for the sport.
