Hong Kong's embattled development secretary can seemingly do no right. Already embroiled in scandal after a company he was linked to was found to be letting out subdivided flats, Chan was reported to have driven a car after drinking a 500ml glass of beer. He has promised to co-operate with police.

The boxing legend had no problem getting into Hong Kong last month, but authorities in New Zealand were not so forgiving of his 1992 conviction for rape. He has been refused a visa and may also be blocked from entering Australia, putting a speaking tour in jeopardy.


Ai Weiwei

The dissident artist is to lose his business, Beijing Fake Cultural Development, after authorities in the capital claimed it had failed to renew its operating licence. Ai, whose detention last year shocked the world, believes the licence is an excuse to shut the company down.
