Just weeks after its momentous launch of the iPhone 5, Apple is back with what is expected to be another hot gadget - a "mini" version of its market-leading iPad tablet. Apple sent out invitations for an event in San Jose, California, keeping details under wraps as it normally does, saying only: "We've got a little more to show you." Blogs that closely monitor Apple say the new tablet could be priced from US$249 to US$399, which could put pressure on rivals such as the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Actress Lindsay Lohan is due in a New York court to face allegations that she clipped a pedestrian with her car and failed to stop. The 26-year-old star was arrested after leaving a nightclub. Police said no alcohol was involved. Lohan remains on informal probation for shoplifting a necklace.
