SCMP.com rapidly dug up proof he was once on the other side of the, err, police fence, with a series of photos showing him rallying against triad violence, piracy and publishing pictures of naked actresses.

Michael Palmer

The speaker of Singapore's parliament quit after becoming the latest public figure in the supposedly straight-laced city state to be caught up in a sex scandal. Palmer, a married father-of-one who only took up his post in October, stepped down after admitting having an extramarital affair with a government staffer.
