A mainland property developer and an apparel retailer set prices for IPOs that will see them become the first two companies to debut on the Hong Kong stock exchange this year. Golden Wheel Tiandi, a Nanjing-based real estate developer founded in 1994, is set to raise as much as HK$890 million, while Speedy Global, an apparel retailer that also designs, sources and manages logistics for owners of retail brands such as Giordano, aims to raise up to HK$123 million.
A new inquest begins into the death of troubled British singer Amy Winehouse, after it emerged that the coroner who oversaw the original hearing was not qualified for the job. At an inquest in October 2011, coroner Suzanne Greenaway delivered a verdict of death by misadventure after hearing Winehouse was more than five times over the drink-drive limit when she died in July of that year. But Greenaway was forced to resign a month later.
