Bradford City

The minnows of English soccer pulled off the unthinkable by winning a place in the League Cup final. Bradford, who have been close to bankruptcy twice times in the 12 years since the club was relegated from the Premier League, are the first side from the fourth tier of English soccer to reach the final in 52 years. They face opposition in Swansea City who, ironically, were struggling in the lower leagues in Bradford's heyday.


JJ Abrams

The Star Trek director is to boldly go across the science fiction divide to take the helm on the seventh Star Wars film. Abrams, a boyhood fan of both franchises, had previously ruled himself out of the running for the new Star Wars film, which would hit cinemas in 2015. But he has seemingly changed tack after being persuaded by Disney, the new owner of the rights to the series.


Diana Pang Dan

The television and film actress joined a growing band of Hong Kong celebrities to come under the spotlight in a much different arena when she joined the ranks of the Gansu provincial Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Actor Stephen Chow Sing-chi also joined the Guangdong CPPCC, following in the footsteps of stars like Eric Tsang Chi-wai and Sally Wu, who also serve on provincial advisory bodies.
