A rape victim's mother takes her case against city authorities who sent her to a labour camp to court. Tang Hui was sentenced to re-education through labour centre by Yongzhou authorities last year after campaigning for harsher punishment for those who raped her daughter, then 11. The city in January rejected her demand for compensation, saying the sentence was in line with regulations and that she was released on humanitarian grounds.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius arrives in Beijing for talks with leaders - while controversy continues to surround his financial affairs at home. Discussion topics are expected to include China's growing influence in Africa, where France is seeking to retain its traditional connection to its former colonies. The massive shoe billed as the world's biggest sneaker makes its Hong Kong debut. The huge version of Italian brand Superga's classic 2750 shoe takes pride of place at the launch of the company's first Hong Kong store at the Harbour City mall in Tsim Sha Tsui. The six-metre-high shoe will be installed outside the mall in a display that will also feature designs from students at Savannah College of Art and Design. It will be in place until May 4.
Facebook fans have a chance to experience the social network in a whole new way as the Facebook Home app for the Android phone becomes available for download. The software aims to more completely integrate Facebook into Android devices. The new family of apps will let users display mobile versions of their newsfeed and messages prominently on the home screens of a wide range of devices.
