The Year of the Horse is almost upon us and that can mean only one thing ... the CLSA Fung Shui Index to help investors decide where to park their money for the Lunar New Year ahead. The widely anticipated annual report by the investment bank may be tongue-in-cheek, but many in the financial community - and beyond - put great store in its predictions. The report, to be released today, will look at, among other things, whether the "Horse will be a force on the bourse", what fate awaits new US Fed boss Janet Yellen, if gold is on its "lustre legs" and the outlook for "hi-ho silver".
The Legislative Council will today debate a motion tabled by Civic Party leader Alan Leong Kah-kit on safeguarding editorial independence following the replacement of Kevin Lau Chun-to as chief editor of Ming Pao newspaper. Leong will argue that the credibility of the media has hit a new low, according to a recent survey, and that many believe journalists are practising self-censorship.
