Britain's Prince Charles and his son Prince William will attend an international conference in London on the huge illegal trade in wildlife. Both made a video plea urging people around the world to support efforts to save endangered species. That William and his brother Prince Harry had spent the weekend hunting deer and wild boar on a private estate in Spain was criticised by some British animal rights groups as ill-timed and hypocritical.

The German government will today slightly raise its forecast for 2014 economic growth in Europe's biggest economy to around 1.75 per cent from a previous estimate of 1.7 per cent, according to a draft. The Berlin government will probably also raise its forecast for domestic demand, which is seen driving growth again this year, to an increase of 2.1 per cent from a previous estimate of 1.9 per cent.
