Technology giant Apple is close to paying a record US$3.2 billion for headphone maker and music streamer Beats Electronics, according to the Financial Times. Founded by rapper Dr Dre and producer Jimmy Iovine, Beats Electronics is best known for its "Beats by Dr Dre" line of trendy headphones and a music service that has won plaudits for its slick design and human music curation, versus the computer algorithms that determine playlists for most of its rivals.

The 78-year-old twin sisters were reunited for the first time since birth after one of Hunt's children traced Hamel to the US. Both women were born in Aldershot, England, in 1936. Their mother decided to give up Hunt for adoption after their birth father fled. Hunt, who lives in England, was given up for adoption and only learned she had a twin when she looked for her birth mother after her adopted mother died. Hamel, who lives in Oregon, always knew she had a twin but says she never thought she would see her sister.
