Thailand's prime minister was forced to step down on Wednesday after the nation's Constitutional Court found her guilty of abusing her power. Things could get worse for Yingluck too. The 46-year-old may be banned from politics for five years after the nation's anti-graft agency said the Senate should impeach her for failing to stem losses from a $US21 billion government rice subsidy programme.

The Chinese embassy lashed out at what it called the "rough treatment" of the teacher, 38, at Manila's international airport. A clip of a Philippine immigration official slapping Jiang after she was denied entry for visa violations went viral.
