Scotland's pro-independence leader won the final televised debate against his pro-union rival, Alastair Darling. Salmond (pictured) was proclaimed the winner after a fiery clash on Scottish independence. A snap poll after the debate reported that 71 per cent of over 500 respondents thought Salmond was the winner. However, that may not be enough to swing the vote on referendum day - September 18. Polls show that 57 per cent of respondents want Scotland to stay in the United Kingdom.

An anonymous traveller beat the Cathay Pacific system to purchase two HK$100 tickets to New York offered as part of the airline's "Fanfares" promotion. When he went online, he was initially told that the tickets were not available. But he used his computer skills to "play around" with the system. He typed in different numbers for the fare ID and tried it out on a separate browser. He eventually got what he wanted. Cathay said it was investigating what had happened. However, a consultant with the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team said the traveller did not hack into the system; he had merely taken advantage of a grey area.
