Thai premier visits Cambodia
Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha makes an official visit to Cambodia. During his two-day visit, he will meet Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to discuss improving ties, border disputes and economic cooperation. They are also due to sign three agreements covering tourism, human trafficking and railways. Bilateral relations have been fraught over the past few years, in particular over the ownership of an ancient temple in northern Cambodia.
 
Hong Kong pay trend results unveiled
The Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management releases results of its pay trend survey for this year. Those involved in the survey will unveil details of pay adjustments and bonus payments made by companies this year, as well as a forecast for what employees can expect next year. The institute surveyed 101 companies from 17 industrial and business sectors. The firms employ about 137,000 full-time salaried staff.
 
Ombudsman holds awards ceremony
A special ceremony is held to honour government departments and public servants who have contributed significantly to a fair, open, accountable and efficient public administration. Ombudsman Connie Lau Yin-hing will officiate at the event. The awards were launched in 1997 to recognise the support rendered by public organisations to investigations launched by the ombudsman.
 
Public views sought on radio renewal bids
The Communications Authority holds a seminar in Mei Foo tonight to seek public views on the renewal of the broadcasting licences for Commercial Radio and Metro Broadcast. This is the second public forum on the issue. It is part of the licence renewal process for the two broadcasters. The authority will make a recommendation on the applications to the Executive Council, which will rule on the bids before the broadcasters' current licences expire in August 2016.
 
BMW Masters gets under way minus McIlroy
The BMW Masters tournament starts today at the Lake Malaren Golf Club in Shanghai. Spaniard Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano will be defending the title he won last year. He will be up against seven members of the victorious European Ryder Cup team. But world number one Rory McIlroy misses the tournament to prepare for a legal battle with his former management company. The four-day event ends on Sunday.
 
Dead Sea scrolls come to Hong Kong
Journalists are given a preview of one of the world's great archaeological finds, which will be displayed at the Asia Society Centre in Hong Kong from November 4. On display will be the Gabriel Revelation Stone and a facsimile of the Great Isaiah Scroll. The Dead Sea scrolls were discovered in a cave in 1947.
