The chairman of German football giants Bayern Munich announced a partnership with ecommerce giant Alibaba to open an online store. "Making our fan merchandise accessible is crucial to connect with our fans in China," Rummenigge said. Bayern and Alibaba estimate the club has up 90 million followers in China. A mainland academic said business related to the sport could amount to 800 billion yuan (HK$1 billion) a year on the mainland.

Four years ago Tetsuko's Room was recognised by Guinness World Records in 2011 for achieving the most episodes hosted by the same presenter. Celebrities who have appeared on the show include actor Hisaya Morishige, guest on the first episode on February 2, 1976, former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher and US singer Lady Gaga.
