Facebook

Launched in February 2004, Facebook is a social networking service founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. Early investors include Microsoft and Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka- shing, through his namesake charitable foundation. Facebook’s US$16 billion initial public offering in May 2012 generated huge investor interest although the shares subsequently slumped in price.

On asylum seekers protesting against screening process in HK:

Law Hin Lau - Why must they seek political asylum in Hong Kong, not our neighbouring jurisdictions? They must understand that we are under Chinese rule, no longer British rule.

Winnie Wong - These people will not assimilate into HK's lifestyle, they'll not learn to speak Chinese nor the Chinese way of life. HK has more than enough daily migrants (who speak and write Chinese and some English) from the mainland to join families. HK does not have enough land for more unqualified people to join our society.

Kelvin Ng - These asylum seekers have come to the wrong place. They should have gone to those countries which always talk about human rights such as the US, Australia, the UK. HK has been criticised by these countries for its lack of protection of human rights for years.

On the dock workers strike:

Patrick Shu Wing Lee - The deadlock will not be eased and ended unless a compromise is reached by both sides. Government has failed to mediate because of a lack of co-operation and compromise from them. Only if there is arbitration or a miracle will the dispute be settled. Things may turn worse if it drags on for too long.

On International Commerce Centre entering Guinness World Records as it stages "the largest light and sound show on a single building":

Bob Howe - Hong Kong just doesn't get it! We were just reported as the worst in the world for light pollution…and now this! Asia's world city, what a joke!

Bjorn Berg - Seems like a waste of energy. How about just doing shows like this on special occasions?
