On the fire which ripped through a cluster of stilt homes in Tai O:

Law Hin Lau - Wooden squatter fires were not uncommon here in the past. Hong Kong still has not learned the lesson to reduce such wooden squatter huts. Fortunately there were no casualties this time, but what about next time? The government must resettle those people living on the stilt houses ashore to prevent further fires.

Patrick Shu Wing Lee - If we really want to preserve the stilt houses as a tourist attraction, there must be better fire precautions and protection measures. People living there should also observe safety rules and regulations so that they can continue to stay there happily and peacefully.

Anton Clark - A relief that no lives were lost and everyone is safe.

On the large inflatable duck in Victoria Harbour:

Keith McNab - Hongkongers love the rubber duck but don't seem to care too much about the pink dolphins that will be lost with the new airport runway.

Fu-Min Chu - Just to put things into perspective: it is just an inflatable duck, albeit an extra size one.

Marcus H. Langston - HK will be inspired by this to have inflatable pink dolphins in the harbour, inflatable turtles nesting on outlying beaches, and an inflatable chief executive with a loudspeaker screeching Beijing's orders.

Harminder Singh - Every time I see the giant rubber duck it puts a smile on my face!

On Hong Kong's declining roadside air pollution:

Yi Long - I really don't understand why Hong Kong doesn't push more for clean energy and electric buses. Standing at a bus stop, waiting for your bus while countless others stop right next to you so you breathe in all that bad air, is horrible.

Wendy Yap - Time spent making money is more important than caring for your health I think.
