Muslims in India no longer matter for Narendra Modi’s BJP or Rahul Gandhi’s Congress party
None of the major political parties in India, be it the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or the Indian National Congress, consider Muslim or non-Hindu voters significant anymore.
Instead, Muslims are compelled to live in areas suffocating under the offensive odour of garbage day and night. No one seems to show the minimum sympathy for their extreme suffering.

Both BJP and the Congress believe that the days of giving importance to Muslim voters are over. Instead, Indian political parties are focusing on the importance of Hindu voters.

With this agenda in mind, the BJP made pledges during the 2014 parliamentary election to expel millions of Bengali-speaking Muslims from India’s northeastern states.
BJP claims that these Bengali-speaking Muslims are not Indian nationals, but intruders from neighbouring Bangladesh. Some sections of the regional media say the “real” number of intruders from Bangladesh would be over 7 million, and that Modi would very certainly “drive away” these “illegal immigrants” much before the 2019 parliamentary elections.

Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of the Indian state of West Bengal on the border with Bangladesh, and her Trinamool Congress party, are opposed to Modi’s agenda of expelling Bengali-speaking Muslims.
But the voice of Banerjee or her party seem largely insignificant amid the wave of Hindu nationalism.
