What action did Hong Kong police take against Kwun Tong road rage pair?
Can the chief inspector of the Hong Kong Police Force’s road safety unit or the relevant traffic division’s investigation and support units please explain through these pages what action they are taking against the two drivers publicly reported by this paper for dangerous driving, obstructing passing vehicles and causing a public nuisance on the highway (“Fist fight erupts on busy Hong Kong highway as truck and Mercedes-Benz bump”, April 22)?
The Post report said dash cam video posted online showed the drivers were going head to head, briefly collided, then got out to face off, engaging in a 1½ minute fist fight. The pair only stopped swinging at each other after a traffic police officer arrived at the scene.
If no action is being taken, can the police explain, in light of the available evidence that identifies the two drivers, what criteria are needed to prosecute dangerous and irresponsible drivers? Furthermore, can the police make it quick and convenient for members of the public to report dangerous drivers?
