Equipped with biosafety level 3 (BSL3) – the highest known in Singapore – the pathology laboratory at the Academia, Singapore General Hospital handles microbes that may cause life-threatening diseases. Scientists study dangerous pathogens such as those responsible for severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in these BSL3 critical laboratories, but no one is worried about any outbreak – thanks to specialist engineering services provider ACROMEC. This exemplifies the level of ACROMEC’s technical expertise in the design and construction of facilities requiring precision-controlled parameters.

Meanwhile, at a renowned Singaporean university’s research cleanroom, chemical properties are being harnessed at an atomic scale in developing advanced, sustainable materials and technologies. The slightest whiff of dust could disrupt the process, but ACROMEC ensures it does not get the chance.

The two facilities may be different, but they rely on ACROMEC’s expertise and undisputable track record in architectural, mechanical, electrical and process works within controlled environments, through the provision of fully integrated services encompassing engineering, procurement and construction, and maintenance.

“It may take as little as 48 hours for an outbreak to spread globally from a travel hub such as Singapore,” says executive chairman and managing director Lim Say Chin. “That’s why equally astounding measures must be taken when building facilities where airborne particulates, contaminants and pollutants should be within strict controlled limits. ACROMEC takes no compromise in our responsibilities – to our valued clients and the general public.”

ACROMEC prides itself as a controlled environment specialist that designs and builds facilities such as cleanrooms, laboratories and medical and sterile facilities.

After debuting strongly on Singapore Exchange last year, ACROMEC reinforces its commitment to investors by pursuing opportunities within and outside the country. It looks forward to bringing its expertise to other parts of the region, including Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

“We welcome local partners who can help navigate their markets through logistics and maintenance support,” Lim says. “Together, we hope to raise the standards of our clients, ensure safety for everyone, open more doors to innovations and provide high-quality solutions for the future.”
