Bathrooms are among the most overlooked and underrated spots when building or decorating a space. Congruently, a study finds that more than half of its respondents felt significantly happier at home after rejuvenating their lavatories. Bathroom innovator spirella has helped spark this joy for more than 60 years, sprucing up countless loos across Europe with its trendsetting accessories and decor – and most prominently with its signature shower curtains and rods.

“People are spending more and more time in the bathroom, especially in the morning,” says Mark Thurow, head of spirella’s supply chain. “Using our designs and products, we want to help give bathrooms a nice atmosphere where people can feel at home.”

Named after the spirals that hang along its curtain rods, spirella was the first to introduce shower curtains and rods to Europe in the late 1950s. The Swiss company has since established itself as a key player in the industry, and now has complete control over its entire supply chain, which allows it to freely manufacture, design, customise and patent its products.

While spirella has created a niche with its iconic shower curtains and rods, it also offers premium bathroom accessories, designed by its in-house team or artists it collaborates with. These accessories include dispensers, jars, laundry baskets, soap dishes, rugs, squeegees and many more.

“Our know-how is unparalleled,” says Valentin Sobraques, general manager. “Firstly, spirella is a family business. Also, it has strong roots in the industry, so it can adapt to any market. Now we want to focus on exporting our products. We intend to utilise our office in China to help develop sales in Asia.”

As spirella aims to serve more of its high-end international markets, it is searching for long-term partnerships with innovative factories, suppliers and distributors within Asia and on e-commerce platforms. The company is also excited to collaborate with exclusive clients who seek tailor-made services.
