Life on Tibet plateau captured by veteran Hong Kong photographer Kan Tai Wong
Documentary photographer Kan Tai Wong launches his latest book, featuring the lives of people on the Tibetan plateau – from farmers to monks, to simple nature lovers
In Vajrayana ,Wong captures the lives of people on the Tibetan plateau, from the hardscrabble existences of farmers, to monks maintaining their ancient ways and to people enjoying the simple pleasures of nature, all in striking silver gelatin black and white prints.
Wong, who now lives in Japan, will also be hosting a talk entitled “From Tiananmen Square to the Himalayas” during the launch event at Comix Home Base in Wan Chai on June 10.
Wong was born in Lantau in 1957 and started his long career as a photojournalist in the late 1970s after studying photography at the Tokyo Institute of Polytechnics. His previous photographic collections also include Beijing Story, Land Reclaim and Hong Kong Walled City 2002-2007.
