On March 11, 2011, the coastline of northeastern Japan was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami, resulting in the largest nuclear accident since the Chernobyl disaster. Experts are still looking for solutions to contain the leaking radiation at Fukushima. New measures are being taken to prevent contaminated groundwater entering the sea.
