More than 73,000 athletes will take to the city’s streets tomorrow for the Hong Kong Marathon. Hong Kong, like almost all major cities, suffers from air pollution. Marathon runners breathe about the same volume of air that a sedentary person would over two days. This graphic shows yesterday’s pollution levels along the route and Wednesday’s levels, which were particularly severe. Tomorrow’s forecast is for light cloud cover and early rain followed by bright patches, and a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius. Force four to five winds forecast for tomorrow may alleviate pollution levels
