Celebrities sparkle at launch of Swarovski's autumn-winter collection

Swarovski's "Kingdom of Jewels" autumn-winter line took centre stage at the W Hotel with a glittering line-up of celebrities.

The champagne-soaked evening featured supermodels Jacqueline Ch'ng and Mikki Yao strutting their stuff on the runway bedecked in chunky, sparkling crystals.

Vivian Chow closed out the show with her typical antics.

In an interesting twist, Swarovski brought in an instructor to teach women how to make their own headpieces from black lace. The hats gave the proceedings the appearance of a mafia funeral.

But that illusion was dispelled by the big smiles on everyone's faces as they basked in the lights of flashbulbs reflected on sparkling crystal.

There was also a webcam with which guests could get their portrait taken in their new ensemble.

The new line of crystal jewellery was described as "rocker-baroque".

According to the company, the new pieces are meant to appeal to a "modern young woman whose ancestry is made up of artists and Eastern royalty" and whose hobbies include DJing, blogging, painting and designing.

Zelia Zhong may not be a royal-rocker-art-blogger, but there's no denying the model loves the new line. "The flamboyant design of the necklace I'm wearing matches the casual, hip and minimalist clothes I always wear. It creates a good contrast," she said.

Long after the fashion show, revellers lingered enjoying canapés and champagne. It appeared the party was just getting started.
