Luxury mattress brand Treca Interiors Paris opens first HK store

Brandon Chau Kwok-fung might be better known for his privileged upbringing and career in the law, but he has clearly also inherited his tycoon father Chau Kai-bong's expensive tastes.

In July, Chau, a barrister, brought to Hong Kong a limited-edition mattress from British luxury brand Vi-Spring that's priced at a cool HK$1 million, and last week, he partnered with another luxury mattress label Treca Interiors Paris to open its first store in Hong Kong.

Two beds were showcased at Club Lusitano in Central, and Chau's socialite and celebrity friends turned up at the cocktail to check out the mattress and congratulate him on Treca's Happy Valley store opening last Friday.

TVB actress Aimee Chan, who was guest of honour at the event, received a set of pillows with her name embroidered on the pillow case.

Chau said he knew little about beddings and mattresses before he started the business, but he was convinced about the demand in Hong Kong when he couldn't find a perfect mattress for himself.

"Before, I couldn't get enough rest no matter how much time I spent sleeping," he said.

"But now, though I still find it hard to get out of bed every morning, it's for a different reason. As soon as I get off the bed, I feel pumped with energy."

The luxury bespoke mattresses from Paris cost about HK$450,000 a set. The mattress features linen fabrics on one side and cashmere on the other for different seasons.
