Since she entered show business about 40 years ago, singer Frances Yip Lai-yee has recorded more than 80 albums in several languages. Last week, the diva released her first Christian album, titled Grace and Glory Psalm 84.

"In the last five years, my life has been somewhat like a roller-coaster ride, and I felt it was time to record this album," she said.

In 2009, her husband had extensive spinal surgery and spent months learning to walk again. A year later, her newborn grandson George was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The baby survived a five-hour operation but the family was told he had less than a year to live. But he is still going strong and will celebrate his third birthday next month.

"George is a miracle," Yip said. "The reason I want to tell his story is to let other people know that it's not entirely hopeless and you must not feel isolated even in the worst possible situation."

Yip spent most of the past two years in Sydney taking care of her family and only recently moved back to Hong Kong, given her grandson's more stable condition. She couldn't wait to start singing again.
