Lams film a family memory book … showing their bond is healthy enough to sell vitamins
It's not easy to gain fame overnight - but it always helps if your father is a superstar.
Even before his first album was released in November, Alex Lam Tak-shun had attracted a lot of attention for following in the footsteps of his father, veteran singer George Lam Chi-cheung.
Now, advertisers have started to see the potential of the father-and-son team. American health and nutrition retailer GNC has signed them up for its latest television commercial, which started airing last week.
The pair took part in a brainstorming session for the storyline, and the final advert documented family moments they had shared, such as taking the tram, strumming the guitar together and stretching out on the yoga mat.
Their mutual understanding and respect made the filming process smoother. It took the elder Lam just 10 minutes to record the background music for the commercial, rearranged from one of his hits.
"It was a magical experience to star in a TV commercial with my son," he said. "I felt really relaxed filming it."
