One of the hippest and most commercially successful local rock bands, Mr. (pronounced Mister) held two concerts over the weekend. Although the band was formed only in 2008, this marked the third time they had taken the stage at the prestigious Coliseum.
The five-piece band - Alan Po Chi-lun on vocals, Desmond Tam Kin-men on bass, Ronny Lay Chak-yan and Quincy Tam Kit-ming on guitar, and Tom To Chi-wun on drums - splashed out HK$100,000 on stage costumes created for them by avant-garde London-based fashion designer Kay Kwok Tze-kung.
The quintet sported their best rock star make-up, including heavy eyeliner, rainbow-coloured braids and tribal face paint.
At the concerts on Friday and Saturday night, the band performed with guests including Canto-pop star Andy Hui Chi-on and singer-songwriters Anthony Wong Yiu-ming and Tats Lau Yee-tat of Tat Ming Pair.
Po said it was a dream come true for the band to jam with their celebrity guests, because they were his idols when he was growing up.
"I listened to Andy's songs every night when I was little. It's so amazing to have this opportunity to be on the stage with him," he said.
