To launch its latest engagement ring Destinee, French jeweller and watchmaker Cartier went to great lengths to put guests in the mood for romance.
At the launch event on Tuesday, the ballroom of the Four Seasons Hotel was lavishly decorated with fresh flowers, pastel-coloured macaroons and miniature wedding cakes to make the venue look like a Parisian garden.
The setting was to echo a short film starring Taiwanese actress Michelle Chen and British actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen to promote the Destinee ring. The film is about a young couple meeting again at their mutual friend's wedding, a few years after they broke up.
Chen, the young star of You Are the Apple of My Eye, said the experience of filming in Paris was "really romantic" and that she fell in love with the city. The filming also triggered some old memories for her.
"I have always been a true believer in destiny," she said. "I was fortunate to have met a special someone when I was in college. We broke up but met again overseas after not seeing each other for five years. When we met, I could still remember the feelings when we were in love back then."
Although the relationship didn't work out, Chen still believes her Mr Right is waiting for her out there.
To add to the romance, up-and-coming singer Alex Lam Tak-shun took the stage and serenaded the audience.
