Children's charity organises Zumba classes to raise funds
Zumba, a fitness programme created in the 1990s by Colombian dancer-choreographer Alberto Perez, now enjoys worldwide popularity.
Those who want to learn the exercise, which incorporates moves from samba, belly dancing and martial arts, can now do so for a good cause. Children's charity Angels for Orphans is holding a fundraising event called Angels Zumbathon on Saturday at the Hong Kong Football Club in Happy Valley.
Four one-hour sessions will be held between 2.30pm and 7pm by professional Zumba instructors including Cecilia Farkas, Kaylene Mattner and Alice Freeman.
Participants are encouraged to raise HK$1,500 for Angels for Orphans and charity partners such as New Hope for Cambodian Children, Bali Kids and Hong Kong's Po Leung Kuk.
Prizes, including vouchers for Body Boost classes and a diamond pendant, will be awarded to the three participants who can raise the most funds.
