Victoria Harbour has been abused for decades, but the opening of the new Maritime Museum marks a softening of the government's attitude towards it. Nevertheless, writes Stuart Heaver, the battle...
It's going to be a big year for Liger, the avant-garde clothing store started by fashion "it" girls Hilary Tsui Ho-ying and Dorothy Hui.
The stylish duo has expanded their brand to a third outlet - a sleek, modern flagship store on Paterson Street, Causeway Bay, far from the industrial chic of their subterranean walk-up showrooms elsewhere.
The pair celebrated with a party on Monday. In true Liger fashion, the eats were supplied by yakitori hot spot and caterer-to-the-hip, Yardbird.
A DJ spun discs as a bevy of tastemakers sipped watermelon sochu cocktails and perused the collection of cutting-edge clothes hand-picked by Tsui and Hui. If truth be told, the guests seemed to spend most of their time crowding a photo booth, posing with friends and a pair of stuffed lobsters.
Tsui and Hui stressed that the party was just a chance for friends and family to get together. They certainly have some famous friends - among those at the event were designer Johanna Ho, actresses Zhou Xun and Kathy Chow Hoi-mei, and Canto-pop star Yumiko Cheng Hei-yee.
Liger truly is a family affair. As the owners sat and chatted, a photographer approached. "Hello, Uncle!" Tsui said. "That's my father," Hui explained.
