The First Initiative Foundation held a soirée on Monday to announce its upcoming "Hong Kong! Hong Kong!" charity event.
The July 13 event will feature not only a Michelin-star dinner and auction, but a concert at which mainland pianist Lang Lang will perform with local Canto-pop star Eason Chan Yik-shun.
The foundation, which engages in projects that benefit the local community, treated guests to a preview of the big night.
There was a brief performance by violinists Kirill Troussov and Wen Wei, followed by a piano duet of Brahms' by the foundation's scholarship benefactors Jonathan Yang and Kate Lee.
"We will continue supporting more initiatives to uplift the Hong Kong community at home and abroad. The theme of 'Hong Kong! Hong Kong!' was chosen because we want to celebrate all that the city has to offer in the area of arts, design and music," said Michelle Ong-Cheung, the founder and chairwoman of the foundation.
Celebrities and their families walked the red carpet on Tuesday night for a gala premiere of , which is showing just as Superman marks his 75th anniversary this year.
In the audience were Joe Ma Tak-chung; Michael Wong Man-tak, Janet Ma Sze-wai and their children; Anthony and Jocelyn Sandstrom; Ankie Beilke; and Alfred Cheung Kin-ting, wife Cindy and their three children, among others.
The new film stars Henry Cavill but Jocelyn Sandstrom said her favourite Superman actor was "definitely Christopher Reeves … No one better".

Apart from the races, guests were treated to a sparkling catwalk show co-ordinated by designer Barney Cheng and an awards ceremony. Among those honoured were singer Joey Yung Cho-yee, world-class squash player Annie Au Wing-chi, and actors Miriam Yeung Chin-wah, Tavia Yeung Yi and Eric Tsang Chi-wai.
