Serta launches Dream mattress at HomeSquare and reminds sleepers to test beds for themselves before they buy
Brand reminds buyers to avoid friends’ bed recommendations as everyone has different sleep needs
Serta’s success began in the 1930s, when it launched its Perfect Sleeper mattress, according to Maggie Sham, the brand’s associate director of sales and marketing.
“The secret behind our success for over 80 years was to keep moving our steps towards innovation,” she says.
This strategy resulted in Serta’s patented Mira-coil, Comfort Quilt and Perimeter Edge products, the company says .
“We have brought many ‘firsts’ to the industry, including the continuous coil inner-spring design in 1980s,” Sham explains.
Customers generally choose their mattresses on the recommendations of family, friends and colleagues, bedding industry analysts say.
However, Serta urges bed buyers to avoid taking other people’s opinions too seriously when they choose the right mattress.
“We suggest that customers should go to our showrooms to try out different models before making a decision,”
That’s because every person is different and also has different sleeping requirements and mattress acceptance, the company says.
Serta has introduced its aptly named “Dream” mattress to its range. The patented Perimeter Edge helps prevent the user from “rolling off” the bed in the middle of the night. This mattress also provides the best support to the spine and disperses a sleeper’s weight evenly to lessen pressure on
