What I’m listening to: I’m working on final edits to a new novel that’s partly set in Northern California, so to recreate the mood I’m revisiting bands I listened to while I was there: Hooverphonic, Daft Punk and Everything But The Girl.

What I’m reading: mostly scholarly articles for my PhD studies, but I just read Haruki Murakami’s new one, Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage, and I found, shall we say, that it’s not Murakami’s strongest work.

What I’m watching: I’m intrigued by How to Get Away with Murder. Viola Davis is a force of nature, and the writing and casting are brilliant. But I can’t seem to stay awake through an episode of this season’s Downton Abbey.

What artists I’m following: the ones who have my attention right now are those who have been on the streets of Admiralty doing clever, important things with umbrella imagery. I’ve never seen anything like this and hope that, whatever the outcome, this outpouring of creativity will be preserved somehow.

Where I’m surfing: I have a new book out, The Queen of Statue Square: New Short Fiction from Hong Kong, and I’m obsessively checking the internet to see if anyone has reviewed it yet.
