Hoffcrazy – US star confirmed as Hong Kong Sevens concert host

Baywatch actor will also appear in the Hong Kong Stadium throughout tournament weekend

US actor and singer David Hasselhoff will be coming to Hong Kong in April for the Sevens tournament, it was confirmed on Sunday.

The announcement by the Hong Kong Rugby Union came after exclusive invitations for members to buy tickets to catch the Knight Rider and Baywatch star live were leaked.

According to a source involved in organising the event, invitations were sent to a few hundred friends of the union with “the good intention of keeping it private” ahead of the star’s team confirming the news.

Hasselhoff will be hosting the HKSEVENS Kick-off Concert at the Sevens Village on April 6, part of the week-long rugby party, and will be joined by Scottish rockers the Proclaimers and Abba tribute band Bjorn Again. He will also appear inside the Hong Kong Stadium throughout the Sevens weekend.

“We need some rugby action and a world-class party and the best place on earth for that is at the Hong Kong Sevens. I’m Hoffcrazy to be this year’s Ambassador... I may even bring my car and the Baywatch babes, although from what I understand about the Sevens, there should be several people dressed up in their red bikinis already,” Hasselhoff said.

The international star shot to fame in two of television’s most famous and long-running shows, Knight Rider, in the role of Michael Knight, and Baywatch, as hunky lifeguard Mitch Buchannon. His music career took off in Europe in the late 1980s after a concert for hundreds of thousands of Germans on New Year’s Eve 1989 at the Berlin Wall.

According to the union, this year’s entertainment offering will be the most expansive ever for an expected 120,000 visitors to the tournament with seven days of fan experiences.

Tickets for the concert, capped at 3,500 spectators, will be available for HK$199 and go on sale from March 1 through Ticketflap (www.ticketflap.com). VIP packages for the HKSEVENS Kick-off Concert can be purchased from the Hong Kong Rugby Union.
