With all the rain – not to mention hail – this past week, we can all use a bit of colour to cheer things up. With that and the weekend in mind, I’ve rounded up some of the best and brightest cosmetics for spring/summer.

1. Tom Ford Eye and Cheek Compact
Featuring three eye shadows and two cheek colours, this vibrant new compact (HK$700) has everything you need for summer. Light rose blush and neutral shadows work for day, while the coral blush and cobalt shadow add drama for evening events. Available April 10 at Tom Ford Beauty counters at Lane Crawford (2110 4727)

2. Deborah Lippmann Spring Collection
It’s all about pastels for nail polish expert Deborah Lippmann this season, with six new shades (HK$220 each) inspired by flowers and gardens. The selection includes the petal pink La Vie en Rose, pistachio Spring Buds and mint-green Flowers in Her Hair (pictured above). Available at Joyce Beauty counters and stores.

3. Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color
Japanese beauty brand Shiseido has updated its popular Shimmering Cream Eye Color collection with eight new shades for spring/summer. From zesty Lemoncello to rosy Konpeito and elegant Nightfall (pictured above), there’s a shade for every skin tone. The creamy texture is designed to last all day without creasing or fading. Available at Shiseido counters and stores.

4. Clinique A Different Nail Enamel
In keeping with its bright and colourful make-up collection, Clinique’s newest shades of nail enamel (HK$110 each) include bold yellows, pinks and reds. The unique formula is designed to minimise skin sensitivity while maintaining a high shine and streak-free application. Available at Clinique counters and stores.

5. BareMinerals Blush
Romance is in the air at natural make-up specialist BareMinerals, whose latest collection features a rosy blush (HK$180) named Swoon. The creamy, lightweight formula is easy to blend and suitable for sensitive skin. Available at BareMinerals counters and stores.

6. Guerlain Rouge G
Nothing brightens up a face like red lips and Guerlain’s latest offerings are the ultimate in luxury. The Rouge G (HK$410-$430) case has 14 separate parts, including a mirror, while the lipstick itself is infused with wild mango butter and ruby powder for radiant colour. Limited-edition shades include Rose Grenat (pictured above), a velvety red pink, and Rose Glacé, a nude pink. Available at Guerlain counters and stores.
