A new laboratory at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) helps students develop apps for mobile devices, including one that supports organ donations.

Through participating in projects led by the laboratory, students from various disciplines can interact with one another and take part in social services, says Dr Ray Cheung Chak-chung, the Director of the laboratory and an Assistant Professor at CityU's Department of Electronic Engineering.

Together with the Rotary Club, the lab will develop an app to promote public awareness of organ donation.

Kellett School, the British International School, has opened its Preparatory and Senior campus in Kowloon Bay (below), with 600 students enrolled. Both sections are operating with its Pok Fu Lam Preparatory campus. The senior section at the campus is based around an operational framework of four "Houses" to foster pastoral care. "Hubs" are allocated to year groups to allow a sense of student progression through the school.

The Rhodes Trust is now accepting applications for the Rhodes Scholarship for Hong Kong for entry in October 2014. Applicants should be Hong Kong residents who have received at least 10 years of education in Hong Kong, or permanent residents of Hong Kong, or citizens of China who are currently enrolled in a university here for full-time study.

Applicants must also be at least 19 years old, and younger than 25 years, by October 1, 2014 (born after October 1, 1989 and on, or before, 1 October 1995); and must have completed (or be due to complete by August 31, 2014) an honours degree.

Preference will be given to those who have not received any education in Britain.

The scholarship covers all university and college fees, economy class airfare to and from Britain, and a personal allowance per year to cover board, lodging and other maintenance costs.

The successful candidate may elect to read for a postgraduate degree or a second bachelor's degree.

The deadline for applications is September 25. For details, go to oxforduchina.org/rhodes or e-mail [email protected].
