Fashion's who's who turned out for the annual CFA awards at the Lincoln Centre. Fashion editor Jing Zhang picks her favourite looks.
From high-fashion designers to lithe supermodels, actors and influential reality stars, America's most stylish gathered to celebrate another year of the American rag trade at the CFDA FAshion Awards in New York (CFDA stands for Council of Fashion Designers of America). In a night that always promises an exciting red carpet, we were certainly not disappointed.
The big winners:
The Row's Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (who incidentally are coming to Hong Kong this summer) won womenswear designer of the year.
Tom Ford won menswear designer of the year
Tabitha Simmons was named accessories designer of the year
Valentino (led by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccoli) won the international award.
Madcap designer Betsy Johnson took home the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.
The founder's award went to J Crew's Mickey Drexler
And finally, the Media Award? Why Instragram, of course
Our favourite unexpected sighting of the evening? Hilarious, New York-based Instagram star and entrepreneur @the_fat_jewish, real name Josh Ostrovsky, showing up with a tote bag and drinking a bottle of his own brand of rose wine. Pure, utter class!
