Celine’s creative director, Phoebe Philo, said to be leaving fashion house
Philo, who has been at Celine since 2008, is said by fashion news website to be joining Azzedine Alaia. If so, she'll be the third creative director on the move, after Raf Simons at Dior and Alber Elbaz at Lanvin
Phoebe Philo, creative director of fashion house Celine, is reported to be leaving after she finishes the marketing for its autumn/winter 2016 collection.
According to fashion news website The Fashion Law, Philo – who joined the LVMH-owned French house in 2008, is heading to Azzedine Alaia, which is owned by luxury firm Richemont — the same company that owns Chloe, where Philo started in 1997 as Stella McCartney’s design assistant and then went on to become creative director in 2001.
If Philo leaves Celine, she will join a growing list of designers without a house. After their departures from Christian Dior and Lanvin, the industry is abuzz with news of what is next for Raf Simons and Alber Elbaz.
