Dogs lead the way in over-the-top costumes for Halloween
Trump, Clinton , Batman or vampire ... anything but a sheet with holes goes for this year’s trick or treating. And it’s not just the humans putting their fright wigs on
Halloween costumes have come a long way since cutting holes in sheets.
These days, dressing up for Halloween has a whole new meaning, thanks to fashion putting a stylish twist on all things creepy and kooky. In recent months, designer costumes have cropped up on catwalks (think Charlotte Olympia’s flirty fruit costumes at London Fashion Week), and several retailers have curated collections of Halloween-inspired ready-to-wear pieces, especially for adults looking to get into the spooky spirit.
Top Halloween costume trends for 2016 include action and superheroes (think Spiderman and Batman). Princess, vampire and pirates are also expected to make a strong showing as well as US political figures Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Oh, and expect to see a few Pokémon characters as well.
And if you’re planning to dress up your canine companion (make sure it’s comfy) to take trick or treating, then here’s some inspiration from the annual Halloween dog parade at Manhattan’s Tompkins Square Park in New York, held on October 22.
