Young guns explore the boundaries of art and fashion
Ten up-and-coming artists and fashion designers worked in pairs to create five pieces for a conceptual exhibition titled ArtiFashion.
The exhibition, which explores the boundaries between art and fashion, launches tomorrow in Tin Hau.
"The aim is to explore the new world of local artists and to reveal some unique dressing styles," says Loretta Lau Wai-ting, artistic director of art studio My Art Temptation, which co-organised the show with online retailer POPmart.
"In ArtiFashion, we exhibit innovative creativity which combines the pursuit of art and fashion sense."
The audience will be able to try on some of the pieces and also receive style advice from professionals, Lau says.
The five works were each created by a pair of artists and designers who were given a month to complete their entry. Three of the designers won awards in this year's Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest. The artworks and fashion designs at the exhibition will also be on sale.
, by illustrator Ann Dan Hin-ka and fashion designer Timbee Lo, features a model in a black and white dress bursting out of a canvas. , by Ashley Chan and William Tong, is made from fishing net topped with a rhinestone fisherman's hat.
