Feast of attractions for visitors on Public Day
From Hong Kong's first Tourbillion watchmaking demonstration, to watch parades and a lucky draw, this year's Brand Name Gallery (BNG) Public Day is packed with exciting events for watch lovers.
One of the highlights of the 31st HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, the gallery's Public Day will take place on Sunday at the Brand Name Gallery, a premium zone that showcases branded watches and clocks. Events of the day are open to the public.
Former Miss Asia and models will also strut the catwalk, and fashion designer Cecilia Yau will offer tips on styling watches with fashion and appreciating fine watches. Visitors will have the chance to win innovative watches sponsored by Brand Name Gallery exhibitors in a lucky draw, while also purchasing timepieces offered by selected exhibitors at a discount.
At the Tourbillon watchmaking demonstration and sharing session, award-winning graphic designer Kan Tai-keung will talk about designing a watch to celebrate his 70th birthday, which is manufactured by Memorigin, the first Hong Kong company to manufacture tourbillon watches. A tourbillion-making demonstration will also be presented.
A limited edition of 70 pieces designed by Kan will be launched at the fair. The theme of his design is longevity, and the tone of the watch is black, the designer's favourite colour. One hundred Chinese characters of "longevity" can be found on the dial and at the back of the watch. Kan wants to pass on blessings of good health and longevity. The watch, which is worth HK$180,000, will be available for pre-order during the fair.
This year's Brand Name Gallery will carry more than 120 brands from 14 countries and regions, including Hong Kong, Austria, the mainland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, Britain and the United States.
Among new participants are Memorigin, Hush Puppies from the US, and Italian label Giorgio Fedon 1919. At the Brand Parade, TVB actress and former Miss Hong Kong Myolie Wu Hang-yee will sport the latest designs by Temporis. Hush Puppies Timepieces is launching its
10th anniversary watch at the fair. Conforming to the brand's casual style, the model features typical Hush Puppies leather and bears the "10th Anniversary" stamp. The dial shows only the numeral "10" to celebrate the anniversary event.
The "World Brand Piazza", an area in the Brand Name Gallery that is dedicated to rare timepieces and renowned brands, will feature A. Lange & Söhne, Audemars Piguet, Blancpain, Breguet, Chopard, Franck Muller, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, Piaget,
Roger Dubuis and Ulysse Nardin. Blancpain will be showing the Spécialités Tourbillon Diamants, set with more than 350 diamonds and worth over HK$16 million.
Located at the Grand Foyer concourse, this exclusive zone is sponsored by Prince Jewellery and Watch Company.
