Get the Look: Red
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Divia Harilela has worked in lifestyle and fashion media for more than 12 years.

What better way to celebrate the upcoming festive season than by wearing something red? Fortunately, it is also one of the hottest colours this winter, with shades ranging from cherry red to burgundy colouring the catwalks of designers like Lanvin and Jason Wu.

While a cocktail dress or silk blouse are popular ways to wear the trend during the party season, give it a more modern, fashion-forward twist with cool details. For Phillip Lim's Holiday Collection, the designer has spiced up his red blouse (right) with a futuristic silver trim and cuffs, instead of the traditional red and gold combo. Valentino's red dress was made from laser-cut fabric.

Choose a more unusual hue such as oxblood, which appeared at Alexander Wang. Materials like leather and lace are unexpected while textures (like quilting) will also add a cool edge to your look.

Cover up in this oxblood quilted jacket (HK$4,090) with cool leather trims from Sandro.

A structured bag is a must-have for the party season. We like Tom Ford's Natalia bag (HK$29,200) made from anaconda skin and decorated with an oversized lock.
