Get The Look: Florals

This spring's florals are not the old-fashioned kind - instead designers are going down a more contemporary route and moving away from traditional prints. Blooms are brought to life through layered textures and fabrics. Christopher Kane, for example, has created a series of white quilted rose jackets that are understated yet elegant. At Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld incorporates florals through embellishments and appliqués, which cover a series of chic strapless A-line dresses. Prada's origami-inspired floral appliques, in contrast, have a Japanese vibe. Where prints do make an appearance they look as though they are hand-painted onto the fabric (as seen at Dries van Noten) and blown up to larger than life proportions. Whatever look you choose, just make sure you are not a wallflower this season.

Invest in a cool yet elegant blouse. Christopher Kane's modern top (HK$6,295 from Maria Luisa) features watercolour florals that have been layered many times.

Mix two of the season's hottest trends - florals and plastic - with this futuristic, feminine PVC bag decorated with floral crystal embellishments (HK$7,990) by Shourouk from Harvey Nichols.

Charlotte Olympia's platforms (HK$10,900 from On Pedder) are both sporty and elegant thanks to its funky combination of mesh and leather rosettes.

Floral jewellery needn't be prim - Miu Miu's flower necklace (HK$9,950 each) is toughened up with a chunky gold chain.
