BLUE CARREON
Covet: sorbet colours
Italian men have been wearing gelato-inspired colours for years. Soft pinks, bright yellows, mint greens - either in the form of a pair of trousers or head to toe. But elsewhere, sorbet colours were limited to men's runway shows; the Riviera, and Newport, Rhode Island, or Palm Beach, Florida. These days men are secure in their masculinity, even in a pair of limone trousers or a fragola red sweater. More macho men are pulling off riskier colour choices. US basketball player Amar'e Stoudemire has been seen in a melon-orange cardigan, and American football star Victor Cruz has been spotted in a faint blue liquorice suit. These men take their sartorial cues from Michael Bastian, Thom Browne, DSquared2 and Hermes (left). Perhaps now's the time to step away from "safe" and dip into the world of sorbet hues.
